It is a kakemono paper and silk representing Kannon Bosatsu with temple calligraphy, it is accompanied by a wooden box for his transport. It is in good condition and does not present any particular wear..

This kakemono is an object used during the Saigoku pilgrimage that takes place in the Kanto region. This pilgrimage is very old where you have to visit 33 temples as well as 3 unnumbered bangai for the goddess Kannon Bosatsu who is the lord of pity and compassion .This entity can endorse thirty three different forms that's why the pilgrim is must visit 33 temples and harvest shuin 朱 印 which are calligraphy with esoteric symbols related to this deity.

So as you  can see on this kakemono, the thirty-three shuin or seals as well as other temples to visit during this pilgrimage that is normally done by foot and wearing white clothes, a stick and a conical hat.

The Saigoku pilgrimage dates from the Heian period, it was created in 718 by the monk Tokudo Shonin and continues at present to be practiced since 1300 years.
